Abstract

This paper proposes an improved vector-based direct power control (DPC) strategy for the doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG)-based wind energy conversion system. Based on the small signal model, the proposed DPC improves the stability of the DFIG, and avoids the DFIG operating in the marginal stable region (the real part of eigenvalue is equal to zero). The vector-based DPC combines with a space vector modulation technique to achieve a constant switching frequency. The simulation and experimental results clearly validate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed vector-based DPC, and show the high performances of the DFIG.
