Abstract
We present iPalmas, an interactive software application for synthesis and teaching of Flamenco hand clap patterns. The system is capable of synthesizing the clapping of a virtual crowd of Flamenco clappers, of teaching the user Flamenco clapping skills, and interacting with the user rhythmically. The primary means of user input is the sound of hand clapping, based on which we extract both discrete and continuous interaction parameters. Visual and auditory feedback are presented to the user on the learning, e.g., how well she is maintaining the tempo and the correct accentuation pattern.
