    Abstrakt

There are no innocent categorisations to be made in research. Yet researchers are dependent on the ability to categorise and delimit: both research fields, as well as objects and subjects of research. Despite all care not to label, pathologise or stigmatise anyone or anything, we recognise that this may not always be easily avoided. We find ourselves in a ‘catch 22’ since very often we are, almost by definition, interested in our research participants precisely because they ‘belong’ to a particular category.
