Paradox in plural: A stakeholder perspective on collective paradox collaboration

If learning to navigate paradox individually can be thought of as paradox navigation 1.0, the theoretical exploration and organizational practice of paradox navigation with an explicit focus on the stakeholder landscape in which individual paradox work is embedded can be cast as paradox navigation 2.0 (Nielsen, Bévort, Henriksen, Hjalager & Lyndgaard, 2023). Introducing a stakeholder perspective to organizational paradox theory, this abstract aims to explore the dynamics of “sharing of paradoxes” of actors in organizational paradox navigation guided by the following research question: How can stakeholder theory advance and inform the exploration and understanding of paradox navigation in organizational practice? This abstract reports from qualitative study of a paradox stakeholder cluster from a large public organization undergoing organizational transformation towards a hybrid workplace (Gratton, 2021; Christensen, 2022).
