Abstrakt

Highlights
•Cumulative contaminant concentration can be divided into four time slots.
•Fitting formulas of time-varying concentration decay were established for two hoods.
•A dynamic evaluation index for hood removing transient contaminants is proposed.
•Increasing hood's containment volume can help to remove transient contaminants.
