Abstract

This chapter reports on the design and practice of virtual learning environments based on the pedagogical approach of Problem Oriented Project Pedagogy (POPP). Problem Oriented Project Pedagogy is situated within the field of Computer Supported Collaborative Learning and the differences between POPP and the more well-known Problem Based Learning (PBL) is discussed. Furthermore, the chapter presents and discusses the learning theory heritage and the key concepts. The principal aim is
to discuss problems and possibilities in design and practice of virtual learning communities based on Problem Oriented Project Pedagogy.
