Abstract

The following research evaluation is the first of its kind for the department of
Architecture, Design, and Media technology - Create. It will be used as a contribution for thorough review on our research performance, organisation and strategy for the coming years. The report is a very important step in this context and we are grateful that four highly estimated professors are willing to put their expertise at our disposal to ensure a high standard evaluation process.
Create was founded as a merger of the former department of Architecture and
Design and department of Media technology in 2010. Two departments that during the last 6-7 years has been under a significant growth in number of students, projects, and scientific, technical and administrative staff. Luckily, the situation is now more stable given the necessary time for consolidation.
The outcome of the evaluation will be part of this consolidation and input to
specification of the research activities that shall be pursuit towards 2022. In this
context the distribution of the departments research groups is significant. Some
have used this process to become more solid defined whereas others have a longer history and hence used the report as a status of its performance. For all groups it is important to remember that the next step shall embark from its current state.
As head of department I look forward to learn from the evaluation report and
to use its recommendations in the strategic development of our future research
activities, which I based on the energy delivered to this report is fully convinced will be interesting, fruitful and manifest the success of Create.
