Abstract

This paper investigates the instability problem caused by the circulating current in the multi-paralleled voltage-source converters (VSCs) with mismatched parameters. The circulating current may arise in the paralleled converters due to the differences in the LCL filer parameters or the controller gains. It is revealed that the circulating current tends to bring instability among paralleled converters, which will also lead to the unstable total current flowing through the point of common coupling. The conditions of the unstable circulating currents are further identified by means of the impedance modeling and analysis of paralleled converters. Experimental results verify the theoretical analysis.
