    Abstract

Each company has to invest in manufacturing management programs, methods and

technologies in order to remain competitive. Previous studies, however, rarely took into

account how the size and geographical focus of a business unit affect the relationship

between manufacturing practices and performance. This paper analyzes the relationship

between size, geographical focus, their effects on the use of manufacturing management

programs, and their link to performance. Based on an international survey, we found

significant characteristics among companies of different size and scope of operations.
