Resumé

Virtual reality (VR) can be described as “a high-end user-computer interface that involves real-time simulation and interactions through multiple sensorial channels” (Burdea and Coiffet 2003). Exercise should be understood as planned physical activity, from the intention of either increased fitness or other health benefits, as opposed to the expression physical activity, which is to be understood as simply movement involving muscle contraction (Landi et al. 2010). Exergaming is an activity with games constructed around physical activity or exercise as a facilitating part of the gameplay mechanic (Wüest et al. 2014). Rehabilitation can be defined as “the restoration of form and function, following illness or injury” (Hoenig et al. 1997) and “restoration of an individual’s capability to achieve the fullest possible life compatible with his abilities and disabilities” (Hoenig et al. 1997).VR exercise and VR...
