Abstract

Industry 4.0 has led to several digital solutions in manufacturing equipment and at management levels. These prove great relevance for monitoring and controlling production processes at the shop floor management (SFM) level in manufacturing. SFM is operationalized through a board meeting practice, where visualization boards play a centric role in facilitating and solving SFM tasks. This paper investigates the information processing at the shop floor applying two different visualization boards, an analog- and a digitized visualization board, to shed light on what visualization solutions are necessary for controlling and coping with uncertainty at the SFM level.
