Communicating Research in Turbulent Times

Activity: Talks and presentationsConference presentations

Description

Invited keynote presentation at The Estonian Research Council Conference on Alternative Methods in Science Communication

Communicating trusted and actionable knowledge is more important than ever. It helps us address global challenges such as climate change, migration and public health within a context of complexity, uncertainties and rapid changes. At the same time scientists and scholars are challenged by societal demands for clear, open, and accessible information. Preserving the integrity of science and allowing for the communication of uncertainties and diversity of interpretations are an essential part of a healthy information environment. In this presentation Prof. David Budtz Pedersen shares experiences and conclusions from the EU COST Cross-Cutting Activity (CCA) on Science Communication. The network brings together outstanding expertise from over 50 organisations across EU Member States and beyond. The CCA network on science communication facilitates exchange between researchers, journalists, media centres, policy makers, funding bodies, and stakeholders in order to set priorities, define tools, and inspire new thinking about the framework conditions for European science communication.
