Description
At Aalborg University, we ask researchers to manually register the research outputs that we cannot automatically import into Pure from online sources. Some researchers are experienced with this process, while others struggle to complete the registration or find it difficult to choose the right template. As part of our support in the Pure team, we are happy to answer any questions from our researchers, and correct any mistakes, but we would be even happier to provide more accessible tools for navigating Pure with ease. Therefore, we have started creating user-friendly video guides and decision trees in addition to our written guides. We want these tools to speak to a broader audience with different learning styles.
Our goal is to improve data quality and cover even more research output in Pure - not only the journal articles that can often be imported, but also conference activities, press coverage, policy support, podcasts, patents, projects and so forth.
This aligns with the Aalborg University Research Indicator, which provides the basis for the internal distribution of the university’s basic research funds. In addition to bibliometric methods, it focuses on research in an open science perspective and rewards collaboration, visibility, and openness - that is, a greater variation of research output and therefore a broader palette of what Pure has to offer.
With this presentation we would like to share the experiences from our ongoing communication project with the Pure community and spark a discussion on how to make Pure more accessible to researchers through better communication.
