The Economic Council
The Economic Council is an economic advisory body established by law in 1962. The Council has 29 members representing unions, employers, the Central Bank and the Danish Government. Independent economic experts are members as well.
The Council is presided over by three independent chairmen (called the "wise men"). The chairmen are generally university professors. The Council meets twice a year to discuss a report prepared by the Chairmanship.
The bi-annual report by the Chairmanship contains economic analyses and policy statements on fiscal and monetary policies, labour market issues, environmental issues etc. The report also contains a forecast of the Danish economy for the next 2 to 3 years. The report is in Danish, and contains an English summary
