Description
Ethics of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering is currently being established as a teaching program as proposed and discussed by several authors. In “Ethics of Chemistry” Joachim Schummer and Tom Børsen (2021) states that the purpose of their book is twofold: use in teaching ethics to chemistry and chemical engineering students, and to initiate research in ethics of chemistry. What this research program encompasses is not very much discussed. Thus, in this presentation I will provide an overview of some of the papers that address teaching ethics of chemistry and provide a sketch of what might be the central assumptions – the hard core if you like – of a research program in Ethics of Chemistry. This is an important question to discuss if one requires that teaching ethics of chemistry to university students is supposed to be a research based.
