Following brief presentations from Professor Bjørn Møller (policy) and Assistant Professor Jesper Lindholm (law), the floor is open to students and others who wish to comment or ask questions on the current situation from a policy and legal point of view. Pertinent issues covered by this hearing may include:

Does an EU migration and asylum policy continue to exist? How does the EU differentiate between economic migrants and refugees?
Has the Schengen and Dublin arrangements in effect collapsed? What are the ways back to an effective policy and legal framework with regard to both migration control and refugee protection?
Does the Commission Proposal have a future or do EU Member States want to go in another direction? What about a mandatory quota system concerning asylum seekers – and perhaps also “recognized” refugees?
National responses to the (perceived?) mass-influx of migrants and refugees.
Proposed solutions, including those beyond the EU context: Solutions “in the region”, enhanced migration control, opening of legal entries for migrants and refugees. Pros and cons of these and other suggested solutions are considered.
