How well are we adapting to the water-related impacts of climate change?

Description

This workshop aims to begin to answer this question by bringing together water and climate change experts to propose and discuss methods and tools for assessing adaptation to the water-related impacts of climate change. While there has been increasing scholarly interest in the assessment of adaptation options, more consideration needs to be given to assessing adaptations with respect to what aspects of the problem they modify (reducing or avoiding impact, strengthening systems to cope with impact, assisting with recovery of impact), how compatible they are with other individual actions which collectively comprise a strategy, and strategies’ longitudinal impact(s) (i.e. maladaptation criteria, recovery from individual events or strengthening adaptive capacity) and scalability.
