Description
An integrated event for researchers, practitioners & PhD students Welcome to Aalborg to the 5th PLANNORD symposium. The overall aim of this symposium is to illuminate and debate how the role of spatial strategy-making and planning seems to change these years. Through a main focus on the actual settings and practices of local and regional planning activities it is the intention to enable a discussion on the current status, in particular in Nordic countries, of the scopes and future perspectives of planning. Are we, for instance, experiencing a crisis of trust in planning? Or is spatial planning, as an activity, going through changes or more basic transformations that may reignite and revitalize the role of planning? We invite participants and presenters to join us in attempting to characterize the present state and role of planning through specific local and regional cases and examples from a Nordic context. Do we see new systems and frameworks of planning emerging? New planning products and outcomes? New planning procedures and processes? And what can this emphasis on the most recent examples of planning settings and practices teach us concerning the evolution of planning? Hence, we intend to provide a rare opportunity to look across the varied spectrum of planning activities in a search for the role of spatial planning in societal development.Period | 18 Aug 2011 → 20 Aug 2011 |
