The Role of Relatives in E-governance Access Among Elderly Citizens: Vignettes from the Danish Covid-19 Vaccination

Activity: Talks and presentationsConference presentations

Description

In the Danish corona-pandemic management, elderly citizens were prioritized for vaccination, which was supported by a number of digital tools. However, media reported that these digital tools were problematic for elderly citizens, who instead had to get help from their younger relatives. This conference presentation is based on a study from spring 2021, which consists of a number of interviews with both experts and elderly citizens. The presentation describes that relatives take on a much greater and complex role than just assistance for relatives, and that current technologies like NemID and eBoks are used together with and contingent on relatives. This points to implications for how future Danish e-governance can manage elderly citizens and their relatives
