Activity: Talks and presentationsConference presentations

Description

Invited international plenary session panel - Video available via link

This session will review the responses of scientists and governments to the COVID-19 pandemic, and will provide a space for discussion, particularly the role of scientists and the scientific community in emergencies, including scientific advice and science communication in the event of a disaster or crisis, and the need for international collaboration in such situations. Experts from around the world will share their experiences and perspectives on the response to the COVID-19 pandemic in their countries. This session will include a panel discussion on some of the issues recalled in the video interview with Richard Horton, editor-in-chief of Lancet, who summarized this perspective early in the pandemic. As Japan marks 10 years since the Great East Japan Earthquake next year, we will discuss how we can prepare for future crises.
