Description

A study led by Louis Nygaard, PhD of Aalborg University Hospital, found that the period preceding a diagnosis of ANCA-associated vasculitis (AAV) should be considered a high-risk window for developing cardiovascular disease. The study, which used data from the Danish national patient registries, compared patients with AAV to age- and sex-matched controls. The AAV group had a significantly higher risk of cardiovascular events and major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in the 12 months preceding diagnosis.
