Aalborg University has developed a drone capable of delivering spare parts to offshore wind turbines, potentially saving significant amounts of money. The drone, part of the ADD2Wind project, can carry a payload of around 20kg and can reach the majority of offshore wind farms while the pilot remains on land. Anders la Cour-Harbo, associate professor at the Department of Electronic Systems at Aalborg University and head of ADD2Wind, states: "We would like to facilitate the operations by only transporting people, and not also material, by ship." The drone has been designed to withstand all weather conditions and has a range of approximately 50km.
