New evidence presented by professors Mette Nyegaard and Michael Toft Overgaard from Aalborg University has helped Kathleen Folbigg being pardoned and freed from prison after 20 years under accusation of having murdered her four children. Mr Overgaard and Ms Nyegaard helped prove a rare gene mutation that might have led to the death of her four infants. Mr Overgaard said under an inquiry that they would not normally publish a scientific breakthrough like this and give other a competition advantage, but he found this cause too important not to.
