According to the Social Democrats, it should no longer be possible to apply for asylum neither at the Danish borders nor in the asylum centers. The party has proposed to send all spontaneous asylum seekers to a Danish-driven reception center in a third country, for example, in North Africa. Here they will have to stay while their asylum claims are being processed. Neither refugees who receive asylum in the new system will have access to Denmark, but will instead be sent to one of the UN-run refugee camps. Earlier this week, DR2 Dagen interviewed GRS’ Martin Lemberg-Pedersen on the new asylum proposal from the Social Democrats. According to Lemberg-Pedersen, the proposal is “completely detached from the reality in the different countries in North Africa”.
