Description

The Department of the Built Environment (BUILD) of Aalborg University is part of a study that shows that the amount of microplastics deposited on the bottom of the ocean has tripled in the past two decades. According to the study, the progression corresponds to the type and volume of consumption of plastic products in society. The scientists have created a high-resolution reconstruction of microplastic pollution from sediments from the North-Western part of the Mediterranean Sea. Post.Doc. at BUILD Laura Simon Sanchez explains that the amount of microplastics on the seafloor is "far from decreasing."
