Alvise Vianello, an associate professor at Aalborg University, was the first to detect microplastics in indoor and outdoor air using a mannequin emulating human breathing. His colleague, Jes Vollertsen, a professor of environmental studies at Aalborg University, states that "[w]e now have enough evidence that we should start looking for microplastic inside human airways."
