Centre for Logistics is an engineering knowledge and research centre at Aalborg University. The aim of CELOG is to focus and strengthen the research in the field of logistics. Simultaneously, the centre helps companies and institutions to optimise the logistics internally as well as externally in the supply chain. We strive to base our research on concrete examples for the benefit of companies and institutions.


Researchers within CELOG recognise that companies not only have to differentiate themselves from competitors through traditional parameters, such as design, functionality, quality and price, but also within management parameters such as traceability, delivery time, delivery precision and flexibility.


CELOG has several research areas, however focuses primarily on:

  • Supply Chain Management

  • Planning & Scheduling

  • Operations Management

  • Green Supply Chains & Logistics

  • Value Chain Diagnostics

An area of increasing importance is Green Supply Chains & Logistics which includes tracing and reusing products and optimisation of transport using e.g. RFID and mobile devices.
Furthermore, CELOG uses the following systems and tools, when working with the activities mentioned above:

  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
  • Advanced Planning & Scheduling (APS)
  • Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI)
  • Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)
  • Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
  • Business Intelligence 


Most of the research within CELOG is carried out in collaboration with companies and institution.  The research projects primarily revolves around further development of tools and techniques, while the development projects focuses on creating improvements in collaboration with the company.


In Centre for Logistics we teach in the study programmes Global Business Engineering and Industrial Management. Furthermore, our researchers function as supervisors on student projects.

Our Work in Practice

CELOG carries out two types of projects; development projects and research projects. The aim of the development projects is to contribute to substantial improvements through optimisation of goods and information flow, business processes, planning and integration. We do this by focusing internally on the company’s processes and externally in the supply chain. The research projects mainly focus on further developing tools and techniques to analyse, plan, optimise, integrate, track and trace.

Fingerprint The fingerprint consists of concepts related to the research profile of the unit and associated persons. It is updated automatically, when new content is added.
