Distributed Sustainable Software and Systems

Organisation profile

Organisation profile

Researchers in the DSSS group analyze, design, implement, test and deploy open distributed computer systems with a focus on sustainability.

Our research spans computer architecture, compilers, program analysis, program transformation, program generation, generative AI, operating systems, distributed computing, local and distributed networking.

We work on

  • sustainability with software, which refers to using software to achieve broader sustainability goals, like reducing carbon emissions, improving resource efficiency, and promoting social good.
  • sustainability of software where we focus on making the software itself more environmentally friendly, energy-efficient, and maintainable.

In our research we build software tools and applications based on theoretical foundations through model based, static and agentic analysis, as well as constructive, experimental and imperative approaches based on testing and performance analysis.
