Organisation profile

Organisation profile

Public Health and Epidemiology conducts research and educational training focusing on man in his surroundings.

Health, disease, rehabilitation and cure evolve in an interplay with individual values, family, society, work, institutions and environment. In the centre of the research are both the causes of disease as the prerequisite for effective prevention and health promotion, and the clinical effects of health care.

Members of the group have very different backgrounds and use a variety of research methods from the fields of epidemiology, statistics, public health, social medicine and the social sciences as well as combinations of these. Most projects are conducted in collaboration with external partners and/or clinical practice.

The group has the main responsibility for the master programme in Public Health at Aalborg University, opened in 2012. Besides this, the group contributes to the educational programmes in Medicine and Medicine with Industrial Specialization, and offers pre-PhD qualification, PhD training and supervision of external research projects.
