Research center for ethics in practice

Research center for ethics in practice (ETIK) works with research on application-oriented ethics at Aalborg University. The research center especially focuses on the frontline areas of ethics, where new issues have risen due to significant changes in the latest decades. The aim of the research center is to establish a forum for integration of ethics and science, while making it possible to make research-based teaching of ethics. Moreover, the research of the center must:

  • Develop and assess ethical arguments - especially in new frontline areas
  • Conduct empirical research of existing ethical approaches - especially in areas with controversial issues
  • Assess, develop and test procedures for ethical decision-making
  • Track and narrate the development of ethical issues.

The research center additionally functions as a sounding board for businesses and organizations, while contributing to the development of public regulation regarding ethical policies or specific profession codes.

The research center of ethics in practice is managed by a committee with Professor Finn Arler in charge.
