Head of research group: Giulio Bianchi Piccinini

The mission of our group is to analyze human behavior to promote sustainable traffic solutions, ensuring the efficient and safe movement of people and goods. Our research leverages diverse data types, including questionnaires, simulation data, and naturalistic data collected from real-life observations.

Our work is theoretically anchored in transportation engineering, cognitive science, and human factors. Our application fields encompass the human element (drivers and cyclists), the vehicle (e.g., intelligent transportation systems), and the environment (infrastructure).

We actively collaborate with industry and academia at both national and international levels. Additionally, we are involved in teaching and supervising students in the bachelor’s in civil engineering (“Byggeri og anlæg”), the master’s in Transportation Engineering (“Veje og trafik”) and the master’s in Urban design at Aalborg University.

UN Sustainable Development Goals

In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. Our work contributes towards the following SDG(s):

  • SDG 3 - Good Health and Well-being
  • SDG 9 - Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure
  • SDG 11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities
