    Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is a dental specialisation at Aalborg University Hospital, which perform diagnostics and treatment of facial deformities, temporomandibular joint dysfunction, fractures of the facial skeleton, benign lesions of the oral cavity and maxillofacial infections of odontogenic origin as well as alveolar ridge augmentation and placement of dental implants after trauma or congenital missing teeth.

    Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Aalborg University Hospital provides training for residents in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and medical students in collaboration with Department of Otorhinolaryngology at Aalborg University Hospital.

    Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Aalborg University Hospital conducts clinical and animal experimental research in collaboration with recognised research groups from national and international universities focusing on development of new methods for alveolar ridge augmentation involving autogenous bone grafts, bone substitutes and stem cells as well as improving surgical predictability and stability after treatment of facial deformities and fractures of the facial skeleton using three-dimensional treatment planning and treatment of patients with  temporomandibular joint dysfunction.
