Clinical Pharmacology Unit (KFE) at Aalborg University Hospital and Aalborg University researches into rational pharmacotherapy - including patient safety in medical care. The vision is to improve the quality of medical care and increase the safety of patients in The North Denmark Region, as well as influencing national and international environments in the same direction. KFE collaborates with several departments at Aalborg University Hospital as well as with the North Denmark Regional Hospital and the primary sector. Research is performed within three main areas: 1) right dose for the right patient; 2) right medication for the right patient and 3) prevention of unintended medication incidents. KFE undertakes teaching in pharmacology as well as supervision at the educational programmes at Aalborg University in Medicine and Medicine with Industrial Specialisation.

KFE was established as an independent department at Aalborg University Hospital in September 2018. The manning consists of doctors, pharmacists, a data manager and a lawyer. From January 2019, research in the department was strengthened with the recruitment of a full-time senior researcher.
