Who we are?

The main theme of our research is investigation of stem cells, replacement tissues, and probiotics in order to harness their regenerative potential and synergies with the ultimate goal of developing novel therapeutic approaches.

Our research – what we do?

Our research focuses on the development of innovative interdisciplinary approaches to control the fate of stem cells and devise original clinically applicable cell- and tissue-based products. Major efforts are currently directed towards these areas:

  • Use of adipose-derived stem cells in the treatment of chronic wounds, and bone and cartilage reconstruction

  • Cell-based treatment of limbal stem cell deficiency

  • Engineering of muscle tissue

  • Probiotic Research Initiative: Application of probiotics in disease management and tissue regeneration

How does our research contribute to societal health challenges?

The group is involved in the translational research into novel regenerative therapies based on the use of probiotics, stem cells, and tissue engineering.
