Organisation profile

Head of research group: Lars Arendt-Nielsen

Objectives

The group works with five overall topics:

  1. Fundamental mechanisms in modulation of pain, itch, and inflammation
  2. MultiOMICs (genomic, transcriptomic, proteomics and epigenetic profiling)
  3. Neuropsychological, -physiological and -biological profiling
  4. New tools and biomarkers for developing mechanism-based diagnostics and personalised therapies
  5. Applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques on large diverse datasets.

Organisation of research

Interdisciplinarity and national/international cooperations provides the diversity of research areas covered by group. The research is organised in 3 individual research units with mutual interactions with and support by individual advanced laboratories.

Training

The group offers Ph.D. and Ph.D. exchange programs associated to the AAU PhD programs “Clinical Science and Laboratory and Translational medicine” and “Biomedical Engineering and Neuroscience”.

Innovation

Based on grants from a variety of pharmaceutical and bio-medical companies the group provides profiling of new pharmacological and biomedical therapy modalities and clinical biomarkers.

Co-operation

Group members are involved in large national and international collaborative networks within biomedical science, neuroscience, and clinical disciplines.

Currently, co-operation includes more than 40 national/international organisations in 15+ countries and 20+ national and international companies.

Fingerprint

The fingerprint consists of concepts related to the research profile of the unit and associated persons. It is updated automatically, when new content is added.
