Lone Dirckinck-Holmfeld er professor i IKT og læring ved Institut for Kommunikation og Psykologi, Aalborg Universitet. Tidligere studienævnsforperson for Master i IKT og Læring, der fungerer som et kollaboratorium for forskere og studerende. Var dekan på Det Humanistiske Fakultet, Aalborg Universitet 2009 - 2015, og arbejdede især med at fremme humaniora som drivkraft for tværfaglig forskning og uddannelse samt klassisk humaniora.
Lone er engageret i forskning i transformation af uddannelse. Hun forsker i problem- og projektbaseret læring og brugen af digitale teknologier med en særlig interesse i at udforske den sammenflettede proces af pædagogik, teknologi og organisation. Det nye koncept med PBL-hybrid er lovende. Deltagende tilgange, engagement i den virkelige verden, samkonstruktion, forandring og lærere som designere er nogle af de specifikke temaer, der udforskes.
Lone Dirckinck-Holmfeld er involveret i forskningskapacitetsopbygningsprojekter under Building Stronger Universities, støttet af Danida. At transformere uddannelse er et centralt fokus. I et partnerskab med Gulu University, Uganda, eksperimenterer vi med og forsker i PBL-hybrid.
Et andet fokus i hendes forskning er inklusiv innovation, bæredygtighed og forandring. Hun er i øjeblikket PI for det kollaborative og tværfaglige forskningsprojekt: "Unlocking the Potential of Green Charcoal Innovation and Climate Change Mitigation in Northern Uganda" i tæt samarbejde med Gulu Universitet, Københavns Universitet og lokale partnere i det nordlige Uganda.
