Research profile
My overall research focus is urban, rural and landscape transformation with a place-based, human centred urban design focus. I am occupied with how local urban design responses can contribute to the understanding and solving of the emergent challenges in the urban areas outside the national growth centers, where I focus on place-making, urban and landscape planning and site-specific development potentials. As an urban designer, my research evolves around the agency of the built environment, considering the built environment as an active and dynamic player in the creation of social practices and actions. I am an advocate for a social inclusive and responsive urban practice that consider the human aspects of urban design, stressing the importance of including the users of the built environment. Reoccurring is a focus on participatory processes that concerns the formation of issues and publics, considering participation in the ongoing process of democratic future-making.
