Main research areas:

  • pain neuroscience
  • neuro-rehabilitation.

Aims:

  • understand the neural mechanisms behind pain processing in humans.
  • give insights into the neuroplastic changes associated with chronic pain.

Main techniques:

  • techniques to stimulate the human tissue (such as electrical and laser stimulation)
  • recordings and analysis of behavioral responses to the stimuli
  • recordings and analysis several electrophysiological responses such as electroencephalography (EEG) and electromyography (EMG).

Teaching profile

My teaching activities are in the following programs:
- the Doctoral School in Medicine, Biomedical Science and Technology
- Biomedical Engineering (Sundhedsteknologi)
- Medicine with Industrial Specialization (Medicin med Industriel Specialisering)
- Master of Pain Science and Multidisciplinary Pain Management (Smertevidenskab og tværfaglig smertebehandling).

I give lectures in the following courses:
- Method Comparison, Reliability and Agreement (PhD program).
- Rehabilitation and Assistive Technology (course coordinator, Master in Biomedical Engineering).
- Advanced Signal Processing (Master in Biomedical Engineering).
- Definition, Classification and Management of Pain (Master of Pain Science and Multidisciplinary Pain Management).
- Methods for System Development in Biomedical Engineering (Bachelor in Biomedical Engineering).
- Regulatory and Ethical Aspects of Clinical Research. Introduction to Medical Devices (Bachelor in Medicine with Industrial Specialization).
