Research profile

My research interests are directed towards the reduction of the environmental impact factor of chemical processes. My activities encompass experiments on both reactive and separation processes, on phase equilibrium, as well as the use of the experimental data to model single chemical process units and to analyse chemical processes as a whole.

With regard to industrial application areas, I am particularly interested in the application of environmentally benign supercritical fluids in biorefinery processes (e.g. fractionation of biocrudes using supercritical carbon dioxide, hydrothermal liquefaction of biomass), in the application of hydrothermal oxidation for cleaning wastewaters, and in reducing the environmental footprint of Oil & Gas industry via improved management of production chemicals (e.g. H2S scavenging).
