Assistant Professor Mikkel Jensen lectures, teaches, and writes on American culture, society, and media at the Department of Culture and Learning, Aalborg University. His research explores how American media texts engage with contemporary historical tendencies, such as deindustrialization, anti-urbanism, and populism.

2024 will see the publication of Jensen’s first monograph, which explores how showrunner David Simon’s television series engage with historical realities in the American city. In 2022, he was named Teacher of the Year in the Humanities at Aalborg University.
