Personal profile

Research profile

I am an assistant professor working with the labs of Per H Nielsen and Mads Albertsen. The focuses of my postdoc have been recovering high-quality metagenome-assembled genomes of wastewater and anaerobic digester bacteria and archaea, and investigating the metabolic potential and phylogeny of key functional groups. I am also involved in projects investigating biogeochemical cycles through the bacteria and archaea of Denmark. My interests centre on the relationship of bacteria and archaea to the natural environment, and ways microorganisms are affected by or can help mitigate human impact.

I did my PhD at the Australian Centre for Ecogenomics (ACE) under the supervision of Prof. Gene Tyson and Dr. Ben Woodcroft and was part of an international team exploring the microbes in thawing permafrost. I did my Honours degree at ACE under the supervision of Prof. Phil Hugenholtz.
