Research profile

Since 2014 my research has revolved around illicit markets online and offline. As a master's student I wrote my thesis on the politics of online drug markets, and in my doctoral research I analyzed the production of trust in these markets. Beyond these topics my research has revolved around more specific subjects such as drug prices, predation, fraud, repeat exchanges, trust, social control, and drug trafficking. An overarching theme in my research has been the intersection of the online and offline drug trade, and a significant part of my work emphasises the differences and commonalities of these markets.

My research has been published in several recognized international journals, including the International Journal of Drug Policy, Global Crime, the American Behavioral Scientist, and the British Journal of Criminology. I have also presented at a range of conferences, including the Annual Meetings of the American Society of Criminology, European Sociological Association and International Society for the Study of Drug Policy. Moreover, I am an active peer reviewer and have reviewed in journals such as the International Journal of Drug Policy, Criminology and European Journal of Criminology. I also serve as an associate editor with Global Crime.

Currently, my research revolves around drug prices in illicit markets within the NEWDRUG project. Supported by the Talent Programme of AAU, NEWDRUG uses survey data in combination with data from illicit online markets to examine the correlates of drug prices and their international variation. The aim of this research is to move beyond the traditional local restrictions on our understanding of drug prices, as well as testing a new potential instrument for the measurement of drug prices.
