Dr. Thomas Loudis Papanikolaou is a geodesist who works in fields of space geodesy and astrodynamics with expertise in precise orbit determination and gravity field modelling
 
His research includes precise orbit determination, orbital dynamics of Low Earth Orbiters (LEOs) and Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), global gravity field modelling, data analysis of satellite gravity missions (GRACE Follow-On, GRACEGOCE), GNSS data analysis, numerical integration methods for orbital mechanics, design of future space missions.
 
Thomas has developed GEORB (Gravity and precisE ORBit determination system), an open source software package for precise orbit determination of LEOs, gravity field modelling based on satellite gravity missions and design of future space missions.

He had led the research and design and has been the main author of the GNSS Precise Orbit Determination of GINAN in the frame of the GNSS Analysis Centre Software (ACS) project as part of the Positioning Australia program.
 
He is a member of the International Association of Geodesy (IAG), the European Geosciences Union (EGU), the American Geophysical Union (AGU) and the International Quantum Geodesy project (WG Laser interferometry for gravity field missions).
