Personal profile

Research profile

I am an Industrial PhD Fellow at Aalborg University (BUILD) in collaboration with DBI – The Danish Institute of Fire and Security Technology. My research focuses on advancing sustainable and fire-safe bio-based buildings by integrating life cycle assessment (LCA) into fire safety design. This work includes evaluating both the environmental impacts of fire safety strategies and the environmental consequences of fire events. By linking LCA with fire safety engineering, I develop practical methods and early-stage design tools that help project teams understand how fire safety decisions influence the overall environmental performance of biobased buildings.

Beyond my PhD, I have a strong research interest in earth-based building materials, particularly earth-based composites stabilized with bio-additives. My work investigates the environmental performance, durability, and potential of earth- and bio-based materials as carbon-efficient alternatives in the built environment.

Across my projects, I am motivated by creating practical, science-based methods and tools that support architects and engineers in designing buildings that are both fire-resilient and environmentally responsible. My broader research interests include:
– Bio-based and earth-based building materials

– Life cycle assessment (LCA) for buildings and building components
– Environmental impacts of technical systems, particularly fire protection
– Sustainable and circular design strategies

My long-term ambition is to contribute to a building sector where environmental sustainability and fire safety reinforce each other, rather than compete.
