Research profile
Søren Bolvig Poulsen’s current research focuses on how emergent technologies can be strategically applied to drive innovation and create meaningful solutions within complex and dynamic environments. With particular emphasis on the potential socioeconomic impact of technology, Poulsen investigates how companies and organizations can enhance their innovation capacity by leveraging design as a strategic tool in decision-making.
Poulsen’s research in foresight integrates a humanistic perspective to understand and anticipate the broader societal and human implications of technological developments. Grounded in a humanistic approach to foresight, Poulsen explores how future technologies can be designed and implemented with respect for human values, social needs, and cultural diversity. This research aims to create strategies and frameworks that not only support innovation but also promote technologies that are meaningful and beneficial to society. This work assists organizations and decision-makers in navigating an increasingly complex technological future, where understanding human needs and social implications is crucial for sustainable and ethically responsible solutions.
In his role as a researcher and educator at the Department of Communication and Psychology, Poulsen also investigates the development of teaching formats, particularly through the integration of technology and pedagogy. With a focus on creating dynamic digital learning environments, Poulsen examines both traditional and experimental teaching formats. He is particularly passionate about developing interdisciplinary teaching formats in which students collaborate with other disciplines through various activities, thereby becoming equipped for multidisciplinary cooperation.
Poulsen is currently a member of two research groups: InDiMedia and MeET.
