Personalized Healthcare through Explainable AI and Digital Health

In my research, I focus on advancing personalized healthcare by leveraging a data-driven approach, with a special emphasis on explainable artificial intelligence (AI) and digital health solutions. The work centers on developing AI models to support individualized treatment, particularly for chronic disease management such as type 2 diabetes. These models estimate patient responses to treatment, providing personalized  treatment insights aimed at enhancing overall health outcomes.

Another key area of my research is the development of digital health tools, specifically decision support systems for healthcare professionals. By integrating explainable AI into clinical practice, these digital tools help overcome barriers like clinical inertia, making healthcare more adaptive, transparent, and effective for both patients and practitioners.

Research Interests:

  • Explainable AI in Healthcare
  • Personalized Medicine
  • Digital Health and AI-based Clinical Support Tools

Teaching profile

My teaching activities focus on supervising and guiding students through a problem-based learning approach. I primarily supervise biomedical engineering master's students in semester projects and medical students in public health projects. Additionally, I assist in teaching courses on the design and evaluation of digital health systems as well as machine learning.
