Personal profile

Teaching profile

I am deeply committed to teaching at Aalborg University, with a particular focus on the master’s program in Clinical Science and Technology. I have supervised over 60 student's projects spread out on Clinical Science and Technology, 1st, 3rd, and 4th (theses) semester projects, Public Health semester projects on bachelor level, 2nd semester on Medicine and Medicine with Industrial Specialization, as well as case modules in Medicine and Medicine with Industrial Specialization, 1st and 2nd semester at bachelor level. Additionally, I have taught the courses on master level: Scientific Methods and Communication and Evidence-Based Medicine. Finally, I have taught the PhD course Fundamentals of Clinical Data Science. From September 2024, I will run the course Design og Evaluation of Digital Health Systems at master level, which I have designed and am responsible for. At the University of Tromsø, (UiT), The Arctic University of Norway, I have both supervised supervisors in Problem-Based Learning as well as supervised students on projects on their 3-years Experienced Based Master’s program Digital Health Services. Problem-based learning is my foundational approach in all my endeavors, and I have an in-depth understanding of the implementation and execution of problem-based learning in both supervisory and teaching activities.

Administrative profile

I am a member of the Study Board for Health and Technology, Aalborg University

Research profile

My research time is particularly devoted to the domains: diabetic foot ulcers, ketoacidosis, both stemming from the chronic disease diabetes. Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) is a tool frequently used for patients with type 2 diabetes to manage and gain insight into blood glucose levels, and CGM data thus plays a significant role in my research as a data source for use in machine learning contexts and randomized controlled trials. Additionally, I have expertise in telemedicine and health technology, particularly focusing on the design and evaluation of health technologies within clinical contexts to ensure their usability, effectiveness, and integration into healthcare workflows. Key competencies I possess include planning through protocol development for ethical review boards, project management, conducting data analysis, and disseminating results.
