Helle Enggaard, Post doc, RN, PhD

Research areas include exploring and evaluating cancer and palliative care services from the perspectives of patients, relatives, and professionals, primarily using mixed methods and qualitative research approaches. The projects are driven by current clinical challenges, resulting in varying research topics. The purpose is to develop knowledge that can improve care for patients with cancer or palliative needs, as well as their families.

The Fundamentals of Care (FoC) framework guides both clinical nursing care and nursing research at Aalborg University Hospital. The FoC framework outlines the elements required for safe, effective, and high-quality care. It emphasizes the importance of developing trusting relationships with patients and integrating their fundamental physical, psychosocial, and relational needs. The framework also stresses that the care context must support nurses in building these relationships and addressing patients' needs to deliver person-centered care. The FoC framework is used to guide the design of nursing research and the implementation of research results in clinical practice.
