Research profile

My PhD research explores participatory design (PD) within the context of dementia care, combining design research with a science and technology studies (STS) perspective. Through participatory design methods, I engage care professionals and residents in two Danish nursing homes to co-explore and make visible the relational and social expertise embedded in care practices. In this work, I place particular emphasis on the role of time: specifically, how PD activities can be adapted to fit the busy and dynamic rhythms of dementia care. This adaptation should allow participants to engage meaningfully without adding undue burden. Ultimately, the project aims to highlight and valorize social care alongside clinical tasks while developing participatory design approaches that are sensitive to context, relationships, and time constraints.
