Research profile
Being part of the Geoinformatics & Earth Observation research group, I specialise in geodata management and spatial analyses, with a particular focus on providing spatial decision support for marine and coastal spatial planning and for protecting and restoring ecosystems. My geographic focus is mostly Europe, with a strong focus on the Baltic Sea Region. Through my research, I contribute to targeting EU policies including the EU Mission on restoring our oceans and waters, the Maritime Spatial Planning Directive, the Marine Strategy Framework Directive, and the Water Framework Directive. Sustainable development goals of particular relevance are #14LifeBelowWater and #15LifeOnLand, with strong synergies to #13ClimateAction and 11SustainableCitiesAndCommunities.
